Crew removes Legion Park’s slide ahead of renovation work

Just like the silver bridge crossing the Bitterroot River or the “Rs” adorning the Riverside smokestack, the slide in Legion Park has been somewhat of an icon for generations of Hamilton residents.

But just like the other two landmarks, the tall slide’s time in Hamilton has come to an end after being removed on Thursday morning.

Outcry over Big Mountain Jesus statue – Whitefish Pilot: Whitefish Pilot

The statue, which sits near the top of Chair 2, is on a 25-by-25 foot parcel of land leased from the Forest Service since 1953. The painted statue of Jesus Christ is a memorial to local World War II veterans.
